Combatants laugh as they move on the bed of a utility vehicle, hurrying alongside a row of multiple corpses and driving in the direction of the descending Sudan's evening sky.

"See this extensive accomplishment. See this act of genocide," a combatant shouts.

The individual grins as he points the recording device on his own face and his companion militiamen, their paramilitary insignia clearly shown: "The victims shall all be killed this way."

The combatants are celebrating a massacre that humanitarian officials fear killed in excess of thousands of civilians in the Sudanese urban center of al-Fashir in recent weeks.

A Community Severed from the Globe

Having held the urban area under blockade for almost an extended period, from August the militia moved to reinforce its position and restrict the leftover inhabitants.

Satellite images show that forces commenced to build a massive earth barrier - a elevated sand barrier - around the edges of el-Fasher, closing access routes and preventing relief supplies.

One of the most horrific footage to emerge and analysed showed the consequences of a mass killing at a educational facility on the west of the community, where dozens dead bodies were observed scattered over the ground.

An elderly man wearing a traditional garment was seated isolated amongst the corpses. He looked to glance as a militiaman armed with a weapon walked descending the staircase towards the victim. lifting his firearm, the gunman released a one shot at the individual, who collapsed to the floor still.

"For what reason is this individual even alive," one militiaman shouted. "Kill this person."

Space-based imagery recorded on late October appeared to confirm that shootings were additionally conducted on the roads of al-Fashir, based on a study released by the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab.

A key witness who provided testimony said they had observed "multiple of our relatives being killed - they were assembled in a single location and all eliminated."

RSF Commanders Seek to Carry Out Reputation Management

In the days that followed the massacre, paramilitary chief conceded that his fighters had carried out "wrongdoings" and said the events would be investigated.

Part of the arrested was after a report documenting his killings. Deliberately orchestrated and modified recording posted on the militia's official social media channel show him being led into a prison room at a detention facility on the outskirts of the city.

Simultaneously, the paramilitary force and associated digital accounts started attempting to reframe the account.

Posts presenting its militiamen handing out assistance to residents were circulated by several users, while the force's media office published numerous videos purporting to display the humane handling of government prisoners of war.

In spite of the social media campaign being used by the militia, their activities in the city have sparked international condemnation.
