Ex- Physician Faces Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors report that a ex- physician now faces charges for committing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
